Overcoming RSI, Carpal Tunnel, or Any Other chronic illness

If I were to read this post about 4 weeks ago, I would have completely dismissed it. The truth is, I’ve become even more keenly aware of how powerful the mind is in controlling the body.

I’m writing this specifically for people that suffer from RSI or Carpal tunnel, however what I’m about to write helps with any chronic illness, as it has helped me.

I’m going to jump to it. Many if not most chronic illnesses are caused by our own minds. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying the pain is not real. Absolutely it is real. However the fear to use an “ailing” part of your body is the very issue that is causing the pain. It is psychosomatic and/or psychogenic. How do I know this? Two ways. I would have mild RSI that would occur when I would work somewhere over 45 hours a week. When this would occur, I would start worrying, “Oh crap, here it comes again”. Once I did that, the merry-go-round would start.

Once it began, I would soak my hands in hot water, or give my hands deep tissue massages. It would temporarily stop the pain.  So, being tired of it, I did a search for solutions.  Luckily, I stumbled onto another person who suffered from RSI who no longer does.  That’s where I first learned about John Sarno’s book.

John Sarno is a doctor that specializes in a chronic illness he calls TMS or  Tension Myositis Syndrome.  (Yes I know this is the age of new syndromes, but check this one out).  He says that the unconscious mind creates the pain and the conscious mind believes it and reinforces it.  This reinforcement only makes it stronger.

As soon as a physical symptom appears, the conscious mind “believes” the condition, usually because that is the location of an existing injury or it somehow seems plausible to the conscious mind that the part of the body should be in pain.  The unconscious then does not provide enough oxygen to that part of the body, resulting in pain and lack of healing.  Once you truly believe that this is a mind-body reaction, you can train your mind to not react to the initial pain. Thus not be afraid, and essentially stopping the psychosomatic response.

The link is below. Yes I am monetizing this.. Why not, it does work and I 100% believe it. When I first read the reviews, I was instantly a believer. Things that do not work, do not have 4.5 stars out of 100s of reviews.

It would be unusual for cearicvl radiculopathy to not have neck pain. Pressure on a pinched nerve will push the nerve against bone and the sensory fibers will protest. There will also, usually, be neck muscle spasms when the pain hits. You haven’t described having any of these symptoms and so I doubt that the pain is originating in the neck. But there is not enough information to actually try to pinpoint the source of your pain. What I can say, however, is that the numbness in your finger is a worrisome sign especially if it is persistent. It suggests that permanent nerve damage may be occurring. What I would suggest, since things are not getting better, is to get a referral to a Neurologist. A Neurologist can do nerve conduction studies to find out where the actual site of the nerve injury is.It may be at the wrist, or Carpal Tunnel. But you say that you tore your rotator cuff and I’m actually more worried that you may also have torn the nerve during that injury. The torn nerve is known as a Brachial Plexus injury and the torn nerve can be anywhere from the shoulder to the neck and trapezius area.

That’s great! It’s pretty liberating.. and scary knowing our own minds have this power..

For those who do suffer from a bit of carpal tunnel especially in their mouse hand a good option may be the 3M ergonomic/joystick mouse (used to be anir). Worked for me.

As one who has suffered svreee cervical pain for many years when suffering whiplash from a drunk driver hitting my car from behind going over 60mph I never imagined years later I would still have repercussions! But indeed I did, eventually had cervical fusion done at C-3/C-4/C-5/C-6 with bone transplanted from my hip titanium plates screws, done in 2000. Saved my miserable life But in the interim, many chiropractors along with physical therapy[the worse for my situation] attempted everything possible to alleviate my pain neurological discomfort[only making it worse]. Almost 30 yrs I suffered until I finally found the right source toward resolve for my individual situation. I continue to suffer from a few herniated discs due to DDD[disc degenerative disease], but life is remarkably better! I encourage you to do your own research, not simply taking the word of any one individual whether medical or otherwise. By doing so you will be able to decide upon choices that serve YOU best for your unique circumstance. Try visiting for a beginning toward an avenue of unlimited information. Take care~ Good luck~
